B&R: Batman 75 Panel @wondercon

Image
This is an awesome Batman 75 panel from Wondercon. I will weigh in with my answers to the topics poised. Favorite Batman Villain It's hard to pick just one villain from Batman's villains they are all so iconic and memorable even the bad ones like Killer Moth and Crazy Quilt . Gun to my head though the only choice is the Joker . He has the strongest hero/villain dynamic in all of comics and possibly all of pop culture. He has an amazing look and concept, the best Batman's stories all have him as an element if not the driving force. He's as equal an icon as Batman. Batman 66 I read the first couple of issues of this book and enjoyed it but I can't afford to carry it on my weekly pull. list. I will definitely be picking up the team up with Green Hornet in Kevin Smith and Ralph Garman's upcoming Batman 66 run. I also dig the classic 66 Batman show and would love to meet Adam West. The Dark Knight Returns I've never been a fan of the seminal Fra

YOUTUBE GOLD: Harry Potter VS Star Wars

This awesome video pits a jedi in jeans against a wizard also in jeans. The effects are perfect and the action is pretty top notch. This is a great fan film and really cool idea. Kudos to  the Racka Racka  for their creativity.

Nic Cage Monday: Kick-Ass - Sleep Tight (Big Daddy Dies)

Nic Cage does his best Adam West/ Mr. Rodgers in Kick-Ass. However, in this scene where's he's burning to death he goes full Cage. This scene is both heart wrenching and hilarious it is like the sweet and sour sauce of Nic Cage performance.

COMICBOOK REVIEW: Silver Surfer #1

Image
It's comic book review time and I've got a hankering to talk about Silver Surfer #1. Silver Surfer is a comic book character that always appealed to me as a kid, he's got a cool look that is unique. He has one of the best modes of transportation in all of comics, he has a strong power set, and an interesting origin. The reality however of his cosmic tragedy however was never that entertaining to me. The Fantastic Four movie he was in , and his appearance on Super Hero Squad (where he talks like a surfer dude) hasn't helped his cause either. However, he has all the makings of a great character and I've always appreciated him. So with the right creative team maybe he can shine brighter than ever. Usually I'm all about DC comics, but when one of my favorite comic book artists on the planet, Mike Allred, has work at Marvel. I must follow. I've spoken briefly about how Mr. Allred drew me into the world of comics with his glorious cover for X-Statix

#TBT -- Classic Simpsons: "El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer" (Season 8, Episode 9)

Image
Episode 3F24 Original Airdate: 1/5/1997 Writer: Ken Keeler Director: Jim Reardon Commentary by: Matt Groening, George Meyer, Jim Reardon, Josh Weinstein (with his kids Simon and Molly) Synopsis Fearful that Homer will drunkenly embarrass her yet again at the annual chili cook-off, Marge tries to keep him from finding out about it. When he does, she makes him promise he won't drink any alcohol. credit:  SimpsonsGIFs However, when Homer comes face-to-face with "the merciless peppers of Quetzlzacatenango" ("Grown deep in the jungle primeval by the inmates of a Guatemalan insane asylum."), he begins a psychedelic journey he won't soon forget. Or maybe he will immediately. Who's to say, really?

The Greatest thing I've found on the internet today is this Pizza Princess gif. Thank you internet .  Nuff Said.

Nic Cage Monday: PUT THE BUNNY BACK IN THE BOX

Nic Cage delivers in one of my favorite action movies Con-Air. In Con-Air he says the line that should define his career " Put the Bunny back in the box." This video edits the fight scene shorter to give the dramatic weight of the line a comedic twist.

Miami Hurricon 2014 Cosplay

Image
Vundablog.com joined the three thousand people that attended  Miami Hurricon  2014. We saw some really fun and imaginative cosplay and chatted with lots of enthusiastic fans. Vundablogger Danielle rocked her Bee and Puppycat Dress and a good amount of people actually recognized it.

Saturday Morning Special: Action Bill

Here's an amazing short that tells the story of William Shakespeare versus William Shatner told in the glorious yellow hue of lego. This makes me wish it was an actual set for sale. I can see building the battle suit and Shakespeare's home. The set would have to include lots of fire pieces for all the Micheal Bay-esque explosions. Hey!  Lego CUUSOO,  get on that.

NERD ANTHEM: "Weird Al" Yankovic - White & Nerdy

Here's a nerd anthem to get you hyped for the weekend and yes that was Key and Peele rolling up on Weird Al. I really dig this Weird Al song since it came out, it elevates a weaker rap song to new heights. I love the lyrics like " My rims never spin to the contrary/  You'll find they're quite stationary/  All of my action figures are cherry/  Steven Hawking's in my library" and " I've been browsing, inspectin'/  X-men comics you know I collect 'em/  The pens in my pocket  I must protect 'em/  my ergonomic keyboard never leaves me bored" It reminds me of my own nerd rap " Of my Epicness ". Side note: So tomorrow Vundablog will be hitting up Miami Hurricon  in full force. We hope to see lots of cool cosplays, meet lots of cool people, and find some quality comics. We'll be handing out our new business cards, and we hope to see you out there.

#TBT -- Classic Simpsons: Introduction

Image
I was raised on The Simpsons. From the ripe young age of six years old, I was hooked on America's favorite anti-nuclear family. I still remember the VHS tape I had at that age that my mom must have recorded for me at the end of Season 1 and the beginning of Season 2. It had seven episodes on it, all in the order they aired (skipping only "Dancin' Homer"): "Krusty Gets Busted" (Season 1 Episode 12) "Some Enchanted Evening" (S1E13) "Bart Gets an F" (S2E1) "Simpson and Delilah" (S2E2) "The Simpsons Halloween Special" later renamed "Treehouse of Horror" (S2E3) "Two Cars in Every Garage, Three Eyes on Every Fish" (S2E4) "Dead Putting Society" (S2E6) To this day, I consider these some of the best Simpsons episodes ever and each one always makes me incredibly nostalgic because they were the foundation of my love for The Simpsons and also because I watched them over and over and over

ALBUM REVIEW: Robby Hunter Band - Magic City Hippies

Image
"You're never coming back..." I have to confess that I'm especially honored and excited to be writing this review. You see, I went to high school with Robby. Years later, in early 2007, he got me a job with his dad's company and that was my first exposure to his music. Every Friday after work a handful of us would walk a few blocks over to Sunset Tavern in South Miami to have a few drinks and watch Robby play. Those sets consisted of about half and half original material to cover songs. That early material was very reminiscent of some of his major influences such as John Mayer and Jack Johnson (he also covered a couple of their songs) but you could definitely see that there was something there--he had a great voice, he could play the hell out of his guitar, and he definitely had a great ear for melody and harmony. "Magic City Hippies," in my opinion, marks a fantastic musical evolution for Robby and his band, blending elements of funk, hip-

MEGACON 2014 March 23rd Cosplay Bad-Asses

Image
The Vundablog found it's way to Megacon 2014 on March 23. We had a great time and picked up lots of merchandise and autographs. We also scoped out some great cosplay. Here are some of the cosplays we admire from the show. Sorry for blurriness in some of the photos. We were figuring out the best camera settings as we went along.   Some of the Monarch's henchmen captured me. We met an impressive Buu from the Dragon Ball universe.
