Image
Free Comic Book Day is upon us. Spider Man 2 is out. Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier is out. The summer movie season has begun. Life is good here at Vundablog. Despite the tardiness of this post we actually saw Captain America: The Winter Soldier 2 days early and for free by showing our shield's to the fine folks at Mac's Comics . Where we met a fellow fan named Tony who had this awesome original poster. Today on this glorious free comic book day. We will be getting our free comic book day comics at Macs Comics. We also may stop by one of our local libraries and pick up free comics that were donated by the generous Mac's comics. Below in the player you can hear our review/comparison of Disney's animated hit Frozen and Marvel's box-office smash Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier . We are working on an Amazing Spiderman 2 review, and then review/comparison. So stay tuned to Vundablog. Catch up on our podcasts and let us know what you think. W...

Top 11 of 2011 or 'How-I-stopped-worrying-and-learned-to-make-more-lists' part 1 of 3

This is my first blog post for The Vundablog, and I could introduce myself...but I'd rather just write about stuff I like. Both of my blog partners love lists, I think one is obsessed with them. It might seem a little Rain Man, but I see the appeal. Lists give a semblance of order in an otherwise chaotic existence, they give us hope for a new day, an opportunity to reach our goals, collect our thoughts, and help us find what is truly important.  And what could be more important than what kind of movie and music taste you have? (She said in a facetious tone.)As a professional nerd, I cannot lie that the movies, books, music, and TV are a way I relate to people. I speak in quotes, I live pop culture, and I enjoy picking it apart. If I can't talk to someone about say, the fundamental constructs in the political spectrum of Star Trek, I can still talk to them of course, but I won't lie that my opinion of them diminishes slightly. I can be a snob, self admitted, but I pref...

Meditations

Image
These are two entries I wrote in my old "meditations" blog documenting much of my spiritual journey that led me to Unitarian Universalism as my chosen faith as well as my journey as a Unitarian Universalist.  I feel they're worth reflecting on as we say goodbye to 2011 considering that 2011 was one of the best years of my life and easily the best year in quite a few years (at least since 2007 if not 2003) and that has been in large part because of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Miami and Unitarian Universalism in general.  The amount of faith and trust that the people of UUCM have put in me in the year and a half I've been there has truly changed my life.  I had only been here a few short months when they asked me to be on the ministerial search committee to find and call a new settled minister.  I was kind of amazed that they were entrusting me with such an important decision.  The whole process taught me so much and gave me so much valuable experie...

Welcome one and all to the wonderful world of Vundablog. What is Vundablog, you're probably wondering. I assume you've deduced it is indeed a blog on these vast and wild internets. But what the hell does Vunda mean? It means turkey waffles... ok it doesn't mean that but stay tuned and maybe I'll explain it  one day. I am Stephen Escudero, one of Vundablog's founders. I am an aspiring writer, filmmaker, and human. Hope you enjoy the Vundablog and bear with us as we grow and change and hopefully expand until the eventual conquest of earth and this solar system. -Stephen Escudero
