#VundaHalloweenAthon Day 10: "Monster Mania"

Welcome to Day 10 of our #VundaHalloweenAthon

The 10th theme of the month is "Monster Mania." Today we celebrate all the monstrous misfits of moviedom--big or small, human or inhumane. Pick a monster movie to watch today--however you may define "monster movie."

It might be an oldie you just never got around to seeing or something from a fresh young filmmaker who you haven't given a chance yet. The sky is the limit and bonus Pumpkin Points if you watch more than one movie a day on theme!

Here are a few rambunctious recommendations from the team, taken from our own watchlists for today...

Group Pick: The Blob (1988) directed by Chuck Russell is available to stream on Peacock and it is a masterful remake, with great special effects and gruesome kills.

D-Rock:
-Tammy & the T-Rex (1994) directed by Stewart Raffill - 1h 22m - Shudder
-The Thing From Another World (1951) directed by Christian Nyby - 1h 27m - YouTubeTV
-Tremors (1990) directed by Ron Underwood - 1h 36m
-Castle Freak (1995) directed by Stuart Gordon is available to stream on Shudder

Stephen & Dani:
-Van Helsing (2004) directed by Stephen Sommers - 2h 11m - Peacock
-The Host (2006) directed by Bong Joon-ho - 2h -Tubi
-Love and Monsters (2020) directed by Michael Mathews - 1h 48m - Hulu

Our official #VundaHalloweenAthon art was done by Josh Stifter who is not only an artist but a filmmaker. If you subscribe to his Flush Studios Patreon you can access great behind the scenes content. He has two feature length films: The Good Exorcist is a comedic horror film made for $7000 under the supervision of Robert Rodriguez available on TromaNOW (perfect for "Spooky & Spiritual" day) or ask Josh about Greywood's Plot a film about friendship and cryptids, which is touring the world at film festivals. Josh also has tons of great horror shorts we might be recommending later in the month.
